Southern Leyte has long been known for it’s amazing diversity of corals, marine life and spectacular wall diving suitable for beginner to advanced divers. We are regularly frequented by our seasonal visitors, the whale sharks.
We offer two local options for accommodation in Padre Burgos – a pensione in the heart of town and a house beautifully situated on Sogod Bay. Locally known as Sweetie’s, the JM-RN Pensione offers beautifully decorated, air conditioned rooms with hot water showers. Breakfast on the roof-top terrace and bar is also included.
Sogood Bay house: Prefer a house to yourself? We have a house available with two bedrooms, each having an en-suite bathroom. The gardens are beautifully kept and there is an outdoor eating area right on the water looking out on some of the reefs we dive on.
The amazing diving in Padre Burgos and the diversity of marine life is largely due to the fact that dynamite fishing and the use of poisons have never been used in the Sogod Bay area. The coral reefs here are unharmed from these practices and a good percentage of the reefs are Marine Protected Areas.
We are constantly searching for new dive sites in unknown areas and we don’t encounter any of the reef devastation seen in other areas of the Philippines.
